What I Learned This Week...

The more you do it, the better you get!

Auditions

Get your self-tape in early, in the first 24-48 hours

The advantage goes to those who get quality audition in first

All Casting Directors care about is lighting, clean sound, and your performance

Film from set if you have to

CoStar = 5 lines or less

Your representation may be able to upgrade CoStar to Guest Star

If your slate is in the same video as the audition, stay in character or close to character

If separate, be yourself

The moments before and after the scene are SUPER important

Different takes should have different energies

Do at least 2 takes

Use Submission Notes to inform production of anything you want them to know

about each take

1st Take: "tone"

On Set - how to maintain your stamina on long days

One page = 3 hours of shoot time, plan your time - where you should be and when

Hydrate

"Lyte Show" - capfull with a little water keeps you hydrated and gives you electrolytes

Eat when you can

Eat healthy and light

BONUS TIP: Get a sandwich at breakfast to put in your trailer, then go to hair/makeup. This will give you something to eat later, even when Craft Services is not available.

Conserve your energy for on camera

Rest when you can

Don't touch or adjust anything on set, including things on your body. It is someone's job to move/adjust that specific item

Speak up if you feel unsafe for any reason, including food allergies. You can even call SAG directly

Make friends with Sound and Camera

While things are being set up, ask camera what your frame is

Sound can hear EVERYTHING, so don't say anything stupid or mean

Say Thank You to EVERYONE! Even if you haven't met them or didn't work with them directly
